Jam-Driving (Derby vs. Driving)

Have you ever been in a traffic jam? Cars, big rigs bumper to bumper. Slow moving. Well isn't that much like a pack? You don't think twice about it; maybe derby is just hardwired into your brain. (Or you just have road rage) Big girls, small girls, body to body, skin to skin, bumping and pushing on each other. Much like in a traffic jam, accept you don't have to fill out an accident report every time you bump some one.
Think about this; while driving down the free way and you see a pack of cars, you strategize how to get around them, weaving trying to plan your escape route to avoid it all. Much like being a jammer you have to plan how you are going to get around. I never put much thought into it but DERBY is much like DRIVING! As your jamming though a pack and much like driving you find holes and jump on and opportunity much like driving. If you see you are coming up on a slow semi or van you scope out how you can avoid getting stuck behind them and dodge em with out blinking an eye. When you drive you have to check your mirrors and blind spots. Much like in derby you must always be looking around to see where the jammer is; where the other blockers are coming from. While driving you are constantly checking for deer, other animals, people, bikes, ect. so you don't accidentally smack one at 70mph, much like while jamming you are watching out for blockers so you don't get laid on your ass!

Next time you are in a traffic jam; take a little but of time and compare derby to driving I promise you will be amazed!
   Happy Jam-Driving :)
